Celebrity hairstylist and Virtue Labs Creative Director Adir Abergel styled actress Nicole Kidman for the ‘Practical Magic 2’ premiere in LA earlier this week, with her hair getting a spotlight moment all to itself thanks to Virtue, Denman, and ghd.
Giving Nicole a ’90s voluminous blowout with a deep side part, Adir was inspired by Nicole’s own iconic curls from the era, pushing the length and volume to let them carry real weight and movement as they fell against her custom Versace gown.
“This look is all about reminiscing on the nineties and channelling her character from the original Practical Magic with that beautiful, free-spirited sister energy,” said Adir.
“I wanted it to feel styled but not overly polished or set. The goal was undone in the best way — loose, full curls with a ton of body, a high-shine finish, and that deep side part that gives the whole look a sexier, more grown-out blowout feel.
“It’s a nod to the free- spirited sister from the original film, reset for today: healthy, romantic, and full of movement.”

To achieve Nicole’s red carpet style follow these steps:
Prep — On damp hair, work Virtue Labs Volumizing Primer through the roots to create lift and give the hair “memory” before styling. Follow with Virtue Labs Volumizing Mousse through mid-lengths to ends for body and movement, then smooth Virtue Labs Damage Reverse Serum (DRS) from mids to ends to fortify the hair and keep it looking healthy underneath the style.
Detangle — Work through the hair section by section with the Denman D38 Detangling and Styling Paddle to smooth it out gently — key for preventing breakage and keeping the hair healthy before any heat tools touch it, especially at this longer length.
Blow-Dry — Create a deep side part, then dry the hair with a Denman Head Hugger thermal brush — the kind that heats up and cools down as you go — working at the root to build maximum lift and volume before any curling begins.
Set the Curls — Working in small-to-medium sections, wind the hair in a consistent direction to build a full, voluminous curl pattern reminiscent of Nicole’s own ’90s curls — defined but never stiff, with real body behind it. Let each curl cool completely on the barrel before releasing, then rake through gently with the Denman D81m Style and Shine brush to open the curl into a soft, sexy blowout shape without losing definition.
Once all the curls are set, work the fingers back through along the deep side part to let the length and weight of the curls fall naturally.
Finish — Warm a small amount of Virtue Labs Healing Oil between the palms and smooth over the lengths and ends to lock in a high-shine, glossy finish while keeping the curls soft and touchable.
