How to Survive the Christmas Rush

Salons everywhere are preparing for the Christmas rush, which inevitably means working insane schedules and managing client expectations as party season approaches.

To keep you and your business ahead of the holiday logjam, Roku Salon and Head Spa founder Robbie Bruce has shared his advice on how to manage the busiest time of the year, and make the most of the Christmas opportunities.

Clients come to us to have a moment of peace away from their own busy lives. Remember, don’t let the chaos show in the appointment and keep the client experience as smooth and relaxing as possible. Our Green Room offers a tranquil environment where clients can switch off and relax with our treatment, with deep cleanses and scalp massages.

Christmas is busy not just for clients, but also other businesses, so try to plan schedules to utilise any space as much as possible. Our space, for example, is available to hire for relevant industry events, including classes, product demonstrations and training sessions. This is a good way of making the most of the space we have so that we can really take advantage of this busy time of year.

Another way to make the most of the Christmas season is from additional offerings, such as gift cards. Our gift cards are popular at this time of year, with those visiting the salon often in the thick of purchasing Christmas gifts. This can spark the idea for them to treat a loved one to a treatment at our salon.

There is always a risk of team members experiencing burnout, with back-to-back schedules. Remember to keep a constant stream of communication to ensure they are feeling supported. It’s important for the team to feel they can lean on one another during busy moments and this will keep the team tight-knit and motivated.

While the busy Christmas period can be daunting, it also presents some great opportunities. Remember, make the most of your space by holding events where possible, and include any additional purchasing opportunities, such as gift cards. Keep communication clear between team members and ensure that clients are still receiving the relaxing treatment they are expecting.
