But how do you style it? Bellissima’s newest launch, the Diffon Worldwide, is here to help.
The curly fringe is having a moment, but there’s one problem no one is talking about- how do you dry it without ending up with frizz, fluff, or a fringe that refuses to behave?
As curly and textured fringes gain momentum, defining those face-framing curls and getting them to sit in the right place can be the most frustrating part of the look.
Unlike the rest of your hair, the fringe is front and centre, and any frizz, shrinkage, or loss of definition can completely change the look.
According to Bellissima Ambassador and Curl and Textured Hair Specialist, Callum Townsend, the key is working the natural curl pattern rather than fighting it.
“Curly fringes can be one of the most challenging areas to style because they’re shorter, sit around the face, and can be unpredictable,” Callum explained. “The biggest mistake is treating them as they aren’t apart of the rest of your hair. You want to encourage the natural curl pattern and allow the hair to form rather than forcing it into shape.”
This is where Bellisima’s newest launch, the Diffon Worldwide, comes in.
The 2-in-1 curly hair dryer and diffusers features a Curls Booster System, combining a perforated grid with 12 long fingers to gently dry and enhance the shape and elasticity of curls, while its ceramic technology is designed to help minimise frizz and dryness.
For Callum, it’s particularly useful when working with smaller, face-framing sections.
“Diffusing a fringe is all about intentional placement. You want to support the curl rather than blast it around with a traditional hairdryer,” Callum continued. “The Diffon allows you to gently cup the curls and dry them in their natural formation, which can make a huge difference to definition and frizz.”
Callum’s curly-fringe tips:
- Start with soaking-wet curls, apply your usual curl products and scrunch to encourage the natural pattern.
- Gently remove excess moisture without roughing up the hair.
- When diffusing the fringe, use gentle airflow and allow the curls to sit naturally in the diffuser rather than constantly moving them around.
- Work from the ends upwards, supporting the curl as it dries.
- Once dry, resist the temptation to brush or overwork the fringe- let the natural curl definition expand over the course of the day.
