The bixie cut holds undeniable power, having quickly become one of this season’s top trending cuts. From young to old, when a client requests to switch up their look with a bixie the atmosphere completely changes. There’s something so empowering about a bixie cut for both you and your client. For the hairdresser, you’re transforming their appearance. For your client, they’re transforming their aura!

Sitting somewhere in-between a pixie cut and a bob, the bixie had longer lengths incorporated throughout. It’s perfect for adding dimension and depth into thinner hair. Pairing perfectly with oval and heart face shapes, this cut is loved for its ability to highlight the face’s focal points, such as the cheekbones and eyes, giving the face a natural lifted appearance – the bixie embodies model-off duty chic!

As we age, hair naturally begins to thin and fall out. For women, hair is their crown, so understandably this can be a daunting experience. When an older lady sits in my chair with these concerns, I always reassure her that it’s a natural process and that there are options available to help. The bixie cut is one of my top suggestions for older woman who are looking to rejuvenate their look. The bixie cut portrays the illusion of hair that appears thicker, adding volume and body, whilst also being loved for its versatility and minimal styling.

The bixie is suited to those with a more sculpted face shape, such as square or diamond – however, it can be pulled off by almost any face shape when styled to harmonise with your client’s features. If they have stronger or more pronounced features, then you may want to recommend that they choose a softer, wispy bixie to balance their proportions. If they have a round face shape, they why not suggest the edgier, blunt bixie with lots of layers and texture – and remind your clients that you can rock a bixie cut at any age!
